Leanna Christman - Photographer/Art Instructor Graduated from IPFW with a Bachelor of Science in Art Education. She is licensed in the State of Indiana to teach Visual Arts in grades K-12. She was formerly employed with Northwest Allen County Schools as an art teacher. After a reduction in force in 2010, she is now a stay at home mom to her daughter, Anna, and started her own art/photography business in Fort Wayne. Jana Guise - Genealogy Instructor Homeschooling mom. I was intrigued with my own family history when hearing stories from my grandparents. I began "digging" into my family history and fell in love with it. I have been researching genealogy for over 8 years now and work from home and the ALCP helping others discover new and exciting
people and information in their own ancestry.
Jane Knapczyk - Music Instructor Having received her training in music education with a voice concentration at IPFW. She was music director at Faith United Methodist Church from 1997-2001. She has taught piano and voice at First Assembly of God for 12 years, and serves as assistant to the choir director there, as well.
Lora McClamrock - Latin/Logic Instructor She has a B.A. in Liberal Arts from the Great Books program at Thomas Aquinas College in Santa Paula, CA. Lora has been homeschooling for twenty years and teaching a curriculum based on the Great Books. She has also written her own Latin curriculum for homeschoolers that is easier to understand and more interesting to use!
Mary Runion - French/Public Speaking Instructor Is a graduate from New Haven High School where she completed 4 Levels (8 condensed quarters) of French using the curriculum Discovering French by Valette &Valette. Her senior year, Mrs. Runion spent 6 months in France through AYUSA International as a French Student, living with a host family and attending the local “Lycée” (High School). Among the places she has visited is Paris, Bordeaux, La Rochelle, L’isle de Ré, Beynac, and Ste. Emillion, visiting historical places such as Chateaux Chasse Spleen, Chateaux Beynac, the catacombs of Ste. Emillion, the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre, and the Arch de Triumphe.
Upon her return, Mary completed two years of College French including translation, and two 300 level French classes at IPFW. Jan Sasser - Indiana State History/World History Instructor Jan is a retired homeschool mom of 31 years. Her seven children's natural abilities ranged from minor learning disabilities to Merit Scholars, so she had to learn, with God's help, to encourage the discouraged and the easily bored. Along the way she helped to found FWAHS, and volunteer with various political campaigns, Settlers, Inc., The history Center, Eagle Forum, the local PBS citizen's advisory council, and the International House's ESL classes. While she always liked history, she fell in love with the rich history of the local area and educated herself on Indiana, Allen County, and Fort Wayne history. She is passionate about history, geography, and politics. She started a Homeschool History Club which eventually evolved into Indiana history classes. She also coordinates the Geography Bee and History Bee for FWAHS.
Andrew Schauer - Literature/Writing Instructor Andrew is a homeschool alumni who recently graduated with his Associate's in Liberal Arts. He is currently working on his Bachelor's Degree (third year) in English and Linguistics with a Writing concentration. At this time he has four novels completed and is working on getting them published. He also has begun writing for several commentary and blog positions. His poetry has been published in selected collections for the past five years. He is currently a tutor for FWCS, guitar instructor, and ballroom dance instructor with Pulse Performing Arts.
Leslie Schauer RN PT - Mathematics/Science Instructor Leslie has been teaching classes in the community for eight years and homeschooling for over twenty years to her nine children. For the last four years she has been a K-12 Math tutor for FWCS & EACS and loves working with area children. Her contributions to the homeschool community include the yearly World Geography Fair, and US Geography Fair with the help of FWAHS. She also coordinates the ballet in-theater production field trips, Make A Plate day, and the newly added Economics Club!
She just obtained RN degree with honors - Cum Laude. Health Sciences degree with honors in 2011 - Magna Cum Laude and Phlebotomy certification. She is a GSE Chemistry Honor Society member 2011, Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society member. First degree from 1984 in Business/Mathematics with honors; with previous Theology and Art concentration. Numerous volunteer Theology certifications and education certifications for tutoring. Leslie has also done many creative art things in the community with painting and charcoal works, participated in the annual Chalkwalk and Art Mosaic, and helped students with the Scholastic Art & Writing Competition.
As a ground floor member to Northside Homeschool Co-op and now Chairman, it is her desire to assist homeschool families in obtaining a quality education and prepare homeschool students for collegiate work. Rebecca Williams - Art/Pen/Painting Instructor Rebecca is a homeschool alumni who is working towards her fine arts degree. She has won several art competitions and won honorable mentions for her fantastic pen work. She loves teaching art in the homeschooling community and seeing the creativity of her students. Over the last three years Rebecca has designed custom wedding bands, race car decals, tattoos, book illustrations, pet portraits, package designs and custom murals. She is part of a creative website ArtSolace.com.
